Come ready to relax and de-stress. You are welcome to undress to your comfort level.  Only the part of your body currently being massaged will be exposed. It is advisable to avoid a heavy meal for a few hours before and to drink water before and after your massage.
  8. How can I get the most out of my massage session?

Communicate your preferences with your therapist. This is your massage and we want it to be perfect.  Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make it more enjoyable for you. More pressure? Less pressure? You name it!
  9. Why am I sore after a massage?

Feeling sore after a massage, especially a deep tissue massage, is quite common and actually a sign that the massage was effective. Here’s why:
  • Release of tension: During a massage, your therapist is working on releasing muscle tension and knots. This can sometimes cause temporary soreness as your muscles adjust to the new pressure and movement.
  • Increased circulation: Massages can improve blood flow to areas that may have been stagnant or restricted. This increased circulation can sometimes lead to soreness, similar to the feeling after a vigorous workout.
  • Toxins release: Massages can help release toxins stored in muscle tissues. As these toxins are released, you may experience some soreness, similar to what you might feel after intense exercise.
  • Muscle repair: Just like after a workout, your muscles may feel sore as they undergo repair and recovery processes following a massage.

Other Suggestions for After Massage Therapy:

  • Do some gentle stretching that evening.  Paying special attention to your trouble spots that received the most attention during your session.
  • Take a warm bath, ideally with Epsom salts (1/2 cup to 1 cup for adults), and soak for 20-40 minutes. Epsom salts are an inexpensive and effective way to further help your body rid itself of toxins and reduce muscle inflammation. You also get the added bonus of absorbing the beneficial magnesium found in Epsom salts through your skin.

As your body becomes accustomed to regular treatments, you’ll experience the next-day soreness less frequently, making the experience that much more pleasurable.
